For the past 6 years, the Trudeau government has let down seniors. Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government have failed to deliver a credible plan to address the specific needs of seniors in our community.
With out-of-control spending and no plan to balance the budget, Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government have put essential social programs at risk. For example, the recent 2021 Federal Budget proposes massive deficit spending that will jeopardize the long-term viability of important social programs like OAS and GIS and our healthcare system.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada’s seniors experienced a disproportionate burden as they face stricter social isolation measures and are among some of the most vulnerable in our community.
Despite this, Justin Trudeau failed to put forward a plan to support Canada’s seniors.
Michelle knows that seniors in our community cannot afford four more years of Justin Trudeau.
Michelle has a strong track record of fighting for seniors in our community, and delivering results on their behalf.
At the very beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, Michelle began pressuring the government for clarification on how support measures were being carried out to ensure Canadians were not left behind, including seniors. You can read the letter here.
Michelle has also pressed the government on other questions, including what specific measures the government was considering for financial support for seniors. You can read the questions here.
Conservatives have been proposing constructive solutions since the onset of the pandemic to support seniors including allowing Canadians to make a special one-time tax-free withdrawal from their RRSPs and waiving mandatory RRIF withdrawals.
Michelle and the Conservative Party of Canada are also committed to lowering government spending to ensure that essential social programs that serve seniors in our community are sustained.
Michelle has always been a strong voice for seniors in our community and she will continue to fight on their behalf.
